discover general aviation - seminar and introductory flight

Dreaming of learning to fly?  In furtherance of its mandate to support general aviation, the Northwest Territories Flying Association periodically hosts "Discover General Aviation" events to familiarize aspiring pilots with the training and processes involved in becoming a recreational or private pilot and acquiring and owning a private aircraft.

Participants are introduced to general aviation through presentations on topics including pilot training and licensing, purchasing private aircraft, and aircraft ownership.  After the event, participants are offered an introductory flight with an NWTFA pilot through the COPA Discover Aviation program.  Participants also receive 12 months of free online ground school and a 90-day free trial of a flight simulator for mobile devices, courtesy of the Canadian Owners and Pilots Association, plus  extensive resource materials.

The next Discover General Aviation event will likely be presented in early summer 2025.
