AGM and break-up party
The annual general meeting of NWTFA is typically held in late spring or early summer. In order to celebrate break-up of ice from the local lakes and kick off the float season, the AGM is combined with a BBQ and pot luck. In addition to concluding the necessary business of the AGM, the event provides members with the opportunity to socialize and plan for the upcoming season.

freeze-up party and chili cook-off
After the conclusion of each float season, NWTFA hosts a freeze-up party and chili cook-off. Members are invited to contribute their best chili and trade stories of the past float season. Competition for the coveted "chili cup" is fierce with several members holding boasting privileges as repeat winners while other members are valiantly striving for their first victory.

COPA FOR KIDS
NWTFA, as COPA Flight 108, was proud to participate in the COPA For Kids Aviation Program sponsored by the Canadian Owner and Pilots Association (COPA). Our COPA for Kids events were held in Yellowknife on an annual basis from 2009 through 2017*. All flights were in floatplanes owned and flown by local pilots. Each pilot introduced kids to the science and general mechanics of his plane and then treated them to a flight in the co-pilot's seat.
