CKW5 - stony rapids seaplane base

The Stony Rapids Seaplane Base is a registered waterdrome situate on the Fond du Lac River at the east end of Lake Athabasca near Stony Rapids, SK.  The seaplane base is operated seasonally by Rise Air (formerly Transwest Air) (306-439-2040 or by radio 129.45 using seaplane base call sign Stony Water).  Pilots are advised to contact Rise Air in advance to verify availability of docking space and fuel.

The Rise Air docks are located on the river farthest to the east and closest to the rapids.  River current requires attention during taxiing but is manageable especially if landing to the west.  Docks are in a back eddy so current flows opposite to river allowing docking without assistance from pilot side facing west.  Docks are in good condition and can accommodate several floatplanes.  Washrooms and an air-conditioned lounge are available in a new Rise Air building across from the seaplane base.

Fuel (100LL and Jet-A) is available from Rise Air at the dock with payment made at the seaplane base when possible and otherwise at the nearby CYSF airport terminal.  Transportation from the seaplane base to the terminal may be provided by the base operator.
