NWTFA has become aware that Parks Canada recently released its report on public consultations respecting establishment of the East Arm (Thaidene Nene) National Park Reserve. This report fails to accurately portray the concerns and positions advanced by NWTFA and various other organizations respecting proposed boundaries and permitted uses. In particular, it overlooks the specific input provided by NWTFA and fails to acknowledge the proposed Reliance Adjustment. NWTFA is following up with Parks Canada to request that the report be amended appropriately.

Joyce Dunphy, a long-time friend and supporter of NWTFA and general aviation in the North, passed away recently. NWTFA members will remember her positive outlook, keen interest in aviation, and enviable navigational skills.
Joyce's cherished Cessna 170 C-FHJD is still going strong. Joyce sold the plane to Hal Logsdon in 1990 on his solemn promise to take good care of it. Joyce was a frequent guest at NWTFA events and at the Midnight Sun Fly-In and always enjoyed special flights with Hal in C-FHJD. Congratulations to Len Smith on his victory in the 2017 Chili Cook-Off. Len is a repeat winner with his secret recipe for moose meat chili. The 2017 Cook-Off was well attended by members and family and boasted a record number of chili entries.
